Во-первых, извините что пишу на англиском, но я честно не умею писать на русском о технических вопрос. Всё-таки я понимаю ответы на русском языке.
I downloaded GStarCAD Trial and I am thinking of buying two copies of GStarCAD Professional for my company. If I buy, I would like to buy them from the Russan distributor, you, because you have a good price and good information on your site.
The beginning of trial looked very promising when I compared GStarCAD with AutoCAD. But when I tested plotting, I had trouble. Here are the problems:
(1) When I use GStarCAD's native PDF export (and I want the fonts printed in vector, so I did not use geometrical correction), some of my text is printed with strange Latin characters, i.e. the characters change by printing (for example "a" becomes -> "v" or something else, no regularity) so that the text has no meaning any more. My Windows XP Pro native legacy codepage is Windows 1257.
I just report this as a bug. I can avoid that problem by using PDF X-Change Pro PDF printer driver, which works well with AutoCAD and other programs.
But the trouble continues:
(2) When I add my PDF X-Change printer into GStarCAD as pc3 (because I want the fonts to be in vector) and edit PC3 in GStarCAD, I cannot later use Plotter Manager to change that file (GStarCAD says: "Unknown file format" although it created that file itself.) I can only change the PDF printer PC3 settings in the plot dialog. I think this is a bug. If I still try to open that PC3, GStarCAD crashes.
(3) When I add a new page setup (with my own settings for quick printing) in Plot dialog, this is not remembered after I close GStarCAD. (And where can I delete the existing page setups that come with GStarCAD? -- I always get "a3" and "pdfa3" but I do not want them.)
(4) At first white colour printed (with any printer) as grey but when I removed "True Color Transform" in Plot Dialog -> Advanced, that problem was resolved. Maybe this "True Color" should just be off by default?
(5) In my AutoCAD drawing I have a black broken line but this is always printed (with any printer) as a black continuous line. I experimented with all kinds of settings but the problem still remained in GStarCAD (AutoCAD prints the same file correctly.) What can I do to print it correctly?
(6) On white background, I found at least one hatch border, which should not be printed but is still printed in GStarCAD as a grey line (although it becomes visible only in Print Preview). In AutoCAD, that line is not visible and is not printed. How can this problem be corrected?
(7) I still have colour trouble. Sometimes an area that should be grey is printed dark green. This is very wrong.
(8) Besides plotting, I need "convertctb" or an equivalent to manage plot styles for each object. But I could not find this in GStarCAD.
(9) "Hide System Printers" would be a good option to have, if possible. I have no specific problem about that but it would make things simpler for printing.
I admit that I experimented with a complex file with many-many layers but it should still print correctly. I cannot buy the program if it prints my drawings with mistakes -- otherwise GStarCAD seems very good but printing complex drawings (real or PDF) seems to be quite poor. Maybe it is just my mistake and I did something wrong?
I need solutions to my problems 5, 6 and 7 (critical). Problem 8 is also important to me. Problems 1, 2, 3 and 4 are not very important to me but I reported them just in case. Please advise me what I can do. Thank you in advance.
